are you thinking of becoming an interim manager?

The decision to become a ‘career’ interim is not one that should be taken lightly. There are a number of important factors that need to be considered before taking the leap. A good intermediary will quite literally ‘manage’ the career of the professional interim and should be able to advise accordingly on all manner of interim related issues. Some questions you need to ask yourself before you proceed are:-

• How many years have you worked in your specialist field? (9+)

• Do you have experience of middle/executive management?

• What outcomes have you achieved?

• Are you able to hit the ground running?

• Do you have good written and verbal communication skills?

• Can you demonstrate the ability to review, recommend and implement?

• Do you have strong project management skills?

• Do you have exceptional inter-personal skills?

• Are you used to working to strict deadlines?

• Are you comfortable with crisis/change management situations?

If you have answered yes to these questions you may have what it takes to become a successful interim manager.
